    Rubber bitumen mastic - Bitumastic M03

    Bitumastic M03 is a hot-applied rubber-bitumen mastic which is a multi-component compound consisting of bitumen, crumb rubber, and plasticizers. When melted and properly applied, it forms a resilient and adhesive compound for both cement and asphaltic pavements.

    Area of application:

    ·        Waterproofing of underground steel pipelines and other structures to protect against soil corrosion.

    ·        Sealing joints and cracks in roofing.

    ·        Installation of roofing bitumen membranes, providing vapor barrier when installing roofing systems.

    ·        Application under the tram rail. 

    ·        Waterproofing of building structures.

     

    Method of application

    Proper surface preparation facilitates adequate adhesion and consequently the maximum life of the sealant. For proper adhesion, the crack/joint must be free of moisture, dust, loose aggregate, and other contaminants. The substrate and air temperatures must be 40°F or above. Sawing, routing, and/or sandblasting are the preferred methods of preparation. Use oil-free compressed air and heat to clean and dry the surface immediately before sealing. Cracks/joints should be sized so that the maximum extension and compression do not exceed 50% of the width. Best results are obtained when the cracks/joints are opened at least 1.5 Cm wide.

     

    Consumption:

    Actual material usage may vary due to the width of application and thickness of material above pavement surfaces.

     

    Storage

    Cracks must be free from moisture, dust, dirt, and debris. Both substrate and air temperature must be above 5°C. Keep boxes of material dry during storage. Do not store in direct sunlight.
